Our story
Liz Sutherland, a retired midwife living in South Africa, has always had a deep appreciation for the rich and vibrant cultures of Africa. Inspired by the brilliant colors and patterns she saw all around her, Liz began creating stunning handmade placemats. Each placemat was designed to showcase the beauty of African artistry. As Liz’s passion for her craft grew, so did her business. Today, Liz employs several South African craftswomen who have helped her to expand her range of placemats and bring her ideas to life, and Dine with Africa was born.
Currently, the range of placemats includes African animals, flowers, musical instruments, masks, tribal women, and more. With each placemat sold, Liz hopes to share the beauty and diversity of Africa with the world, and to support local artisans in the process.
